Introducing PBC
Petersham Baptist Church is a church of two congregations in the Inner West of Sydney:
- a morning congregation (9:30am) that goes back to 1882
- an evening congregation in Petersham (5:30pm) that was planted in 1999.
The church runs a residence for 50 young adults (students and young workers, most of whom come from rural and regional Australia or from overseas) called Flo Harris Lodge. It also partners with Baptist Community Services in running the Crystal St Community Shop, which is an Op Shop and a base for ministry among people in need in the local community.
We aim to be a church that is:
wholeheartedly
committed to the gospel of the Lord Jesus, and to the centrality of that gospel in the life of the church
convinced
of the absolute trustworthiness and the contemporary relevance of Scripture as the word of God, feeding on the word of God day by day and week by week, and trusting and obeying what it says
growing
into a cluster of small, welcoming, outward-looking congregations, where people know and love one another and encourage each other in serving Christ
involved
in the local community as a blessing to all, especially to those in need, through individual initiatives and common ventures in which we practise love for our neighbours and make disciples of the Lord Jesus
contributing
to the growth of the gospel throughout the world through training, sending and supporting missionaries.
